hi Group : In My travels south I have wound up here in Redding Ca. Found a complete RM Wade drage saw in a "Antique" store. It sure looks to be totaly complete except fot the blade. The motor is free and the mechanism appears to be in working order . It's a model L M 1 Serial # 1104770 ? They are asking 500$ for this . My question is .... is this a good deal ? will check back later . Thanks

Ernie

I have a Wade drag saw, and wouldn't sell it for $500. Sounds like a good deal if that is what you want. I saw a posting recently where someone sold one for $1200.

If the saw is complete and operable, and that's what you want, go for it.

I would never pay more than $200 for a drag saw that does not run. I bought a 1 of 100 multnomah drag saw for $300. I have serveral others and wades only cost around $100 for one that runs great. Some vaughan drag saws you can get for free.

Wonder if you could help me. I am from the UK, but my father (who owned and ran a timber yard for over 40 years here in England)on a recent trip to Alaska came across the remains of a Wade drag saw. He recognised it instantly as he had owned and used one for many years. The owner of the remains didn't know what it was and was delighted to find out. My father would like to help him trace the original catalogue, photo's etc - anything that could help the guy restore it. Do you know of a site with this kind of info available? Many thanks.

Have several drag saws will help anyone interested in them or supply parts. I'm in Portland Oregon 503-284-5156, these are not cheap and are rare antiques.

Graham-

Believe it or not, the R.M. Wade Company is still in business. Their URL is rmwade.com. This site has links to company history, etc. Also, go to the Google.com search engine and search for "drag saw". There are links there to information including copies of original Wade brochures.

I am restoring one, and, like you, have everything but the blade.

Good luck
