I also have one of these outboards, a wards sea king 5hp, I don't know even how old it is but I am guessing maybe late 60's or the 70's, it runs well however, I found that there is no air cleaner with it and I am not sure where to look for these parts, it seems to be that this is not a common outboard motor or it is to old. there is also a small part that I am not sure, its proper name, is missing from below the engine it self it adjusts and controls how and what angle the outboard shaft and propeller sits in the water.

I also have the matching wards sea king aluminum boat, I think it about 10' or 12' in length, the motor and shaft is a dark green and the top of the motor is a white or beige, the paint is old so I don't know what the colors may have looked like new. I don't now much about boats or outboard motors, I would like to keep this boat and motor in good order, I wrote down the numbers stamped in a tag just below the engine itself, the paint has came off and only the stamped numbers are left so I don't know what the stand for but here they are...

I may take a picture and post it.

Any help would be helpful thanks.

I have a small 5hp clinton pre 1969 and I am also looking for parts or possibly to get rid of it. it is a model 1500.
I also have a shop manual for all clinton outboards from 1969-1980 up to 30hp.

Hi Ted,
I have a 1978 5hp Montgomery Ward Sea King outboard. The engine is a Clinton model K500 3108C. If there is a section in your manual covering this engine,I would appreciate a copy of it. Will cover the costs involved.
Thanx!

I have a Sea King (5hp)
Model# J500-1-1060
SN# 375750
Another # at bottom ? XTV 27005B (Whats that?)
I've looked all over the web for info about this
motor and found nothing. The motor works real good
but the lower unit shaft heats up. Is that an impeller problem? Whats the Gas mix? This motor was given to me by my 78 year old dad last year and I have no info booklet about it or parts.
Can anyone tell me anything about this motor?

Haven't anything for you on that particular number, sorry. Will keep looking for ya.

I have an old Clinton Chief engine and am wondering what the mix would be for it. Use it on a little boat and no manual. Any idea??

Model # is: J9 1101

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I've got two J9's over here in the UK but have no fuel line for them, did they ever make those engines run on kerosene (paraffin over here)
As the guy who gave me them hinted that they could.
