I am trying to get the carburator set up on this motor! It has a Tillotson carb with three adjustments (screw-type). I could use some information regarding initial settings for air and fuel, etc.

This motor is currently on a tractor that was hand-built by my grandfather out of many old parts. Is this motor valuable? (Model M81, 5 h.p.).

Thanks.

I am a Cushman collector with two Cushman Huskys of the same type and vintage. These engines are not that valuable. I paid $50 and $75 for mine. The best way to set or adjust is as follows. The adjustment screw on the bottom is the fuel mixture. Open about 3/4 to 1 turn. After starting the engine adjust too a richer or leaner setting. There should be an adjustment screw out of the side. This is speed adjustment. Set it to where the engines runs at the prescribed RPM. You will need to fine tune both when getting it closer. I assume the third is to the back which is related to the governer speed. With the other two set you can then adjust the governer speed accordingly. Hope this helps. Bt the way my Huskys are 1 1/2HP and 4HP.
