Just traded for a 20 Hp "Oil City" (first BIG motor) It's a two stroke, hot tube ignition, one valve (under belly) Open crankcase w/ journal arm (Not sure if that's the correct term for the link bar between the connecting rod and the crankshaft)
No Govenor, set up for Propane at the hot tube, and on the side entering the valve.
Any hints or instruction (or history on them)would be appreciated before I hurt myself (hard to picture hurting it unless it raw away)
Regards W A Winget Hampton, Va.

PS: I was told she pulled 7 wells for 100 years without a problem until the EPA shut her down in the 90's for dripping oil on the ground.....
Ha, Modernization....

That style of engine is called a cross-head.That is (the link arm) enables the piston to travel horizontally and the cross-head takes the centrifical force from the crank, much like a steam engine. I am headed for Sistersville, will send additional info when I return. I don't have Oil City engines but do have others similar to its design. Check out my homepage if you have a chance.
