I have an antique round mower of some kind. The deck says Kuker Industries and on the little motor the model number is 4980301026 serial number 10841824B

I has 2 large thin wheels in back and a very small wheel in very front. The mower deck is round, It has 2 pullys on top, It is about 1960 I am told, It looks like it may be used to mow up under barb fence or something the way a long skinny bar on front top is shaped can anyone help me. Any info would greatly be appreciated

Mark,

The Clinton 498 engine is a cast iron, 4.5 horsepower engine with tapered roller crankshaft bearings. It should have an oil bath air filter and a recoil starter. It is a very high-quality engine that ought to last forever, especially with chrome piston rings, which you can probably get from Clinton. Treasure it! Parts and literature should still be available for it from the Clinton Engines Company, Clark and Maple Streets, Maquoketa, Iowa.

Mark, I too am interested in Clinton Engines. I rescued??? a Montgomery Ward walk-behind garden cultivator from a junk pile of my father-in-laws some years back. He gave me the original, smudged, operating and repair manual & parts catalogue for a Clinton Series 500 engine. The engine is not all there it was about 1948 or 1949 model. The manual also says it covers the B-700 model. I discovered that they were made in Clinton, Michigan and not Clinton, Ia. Duh! Made by the Clinton Machine Company. I know this doesn't help much, but I would like to get in on a Clinton product discussion group. Leonard

Leonard,

I'm not sure what engine you have on your equipment. The Clinton 500 engine is a horizontal shaft 2-cycle engine. That engine is nearly bullet proof. I recommend chrome rings for it, which you can get from Clinton. The B-700 was a 4-cycle one. My literature about it is locked away, so you know more about it from your manual than I would. The Clinton Engines Corporation is still around and able to furnish parts and literature for their engines. They're at Clark and Maple Streets, Maquoketa, Iowa.
