I'm getting ready to look at a 4 cyl. Wisconsin engine my neighbor has had sitting in his shed for longer than he can remember. I've seen the posts saying that there are manuals available at eBAY.com, so I going to look for one there. My question is: How do I tell what model the old engine is? Is it cast or stamped on it someplace, or is there anyother way I can tell? Thanks for your help. Don

I just got back from looking at this engine. The numbers I found were: X4B7A Is this the model? The serial number is 6069007, MFD for Y97. Can anyone tell me anything about this? I'm thinking of getting it running again, but I have'nt seen any manuals for that model number, not even at eBAY. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The number X4B7A must be from the magneto. The engine# tag should be on one of the cyl.head shrouds. Many VE-4 & VF-4 were used on combines, balers befor the live PTO came into use.
