We have a restored & running hit & miss 2-1/2 HP, 550RPM Monarch buzz coil ignition engine built in Dunville Ontario. Two flywheels, open crankcase, gas tank cast into engine base & govenor on left side between flywheel & left main bearing . Any relation or dealings with Monarch of the US or other companies? Any clubs or collectors who deal with these engines.

Hello - I have a Monarch model N serial number 19115. It is a 1 3/4 hp engine made by the Royal Engine Company, Saginaw, MI. I'm looking for any info on the engine. I'm thinking about selling the engine, and need some idea of the value, original color, and use of the engine.

The Dunville Monarch's are not related to the ones made in the USA. Being made in Canada they are a rare engine in the USA. I have seen several at shows here in southeren Ontario however.

Found a refernce years ago to Monarch in a book the fatherinlaw has. Will look it up next time there. It was an American company or branch of somebody. Do you know the fellow that used to have 10 or a dozen Monarchs out to Blyth's Huron Pioneer Thresherman Reunion? Going to Blyth, Milton or Drayton this year?
