I just purchased an International Harvester gas engine at an estate sale. the tag appears to list it as a 3 to 5 HP Type L6? or G maybe
300-500 rpm pulley speed
BBR 36682 HP
Could someone tell me what I have? I don't believe it is a hit-miss engine but it is very similar. I did hook gas to it and fill the tank with water and it seems to run good. I just need to know what I have to start gathering info on it
Thanks very much,
Danny Bracken

Sounds like what you have is an International LB engine. Looks like a rectangular block of iron, with four feet, and a single flywheel. The starter crank is made into the flywheel, and folds out. There is a rod sticking up behind the flywheel, which lets you set the engine speed.
These engines are fairly common, and parts and manuals can be readily found. The engine is throttle governed, and not hit & miss.

My bet is an International LB 3-5. They made them in 2 sizes-3 to 5 hp & 1 1/2 to 2 1/2. They are throttle governed therefore not hit/miss. They were a great engine, I have one of each. Parts should be easy to find as they were quite common. If nobody local can help, check out the sponsors of enginads.com Congrats, Bill Klein
