When I was a child in the early 1950's, my Dad worked in a gasoline refinery in SE New Mexico. When he worked the midnight shift, he would at times let me walk through the plant with him. They generated their own electrical power with two large generators that were powered by fairly large Bruce McBeth engines. They were about 5 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and probably 8 feet long. They were huge overhead valve engines without valve covers, and when you looked into the top of the engine, the cooling water could be seen circulating along the top of the heads (entirely open). These engines and generators were set in the late 1930's. I have never been able to find any information on these engines, and was wondering if any of you had ever ran across one.

Thanks,
Marv

Marvin,
I think they were called "Meriam" engines also. Manuel
