Huge Briggs Stratton in a barn...collectable?

I can get, free for the hauling, a huge old B&S engine. I didn't get much of a chance to look at it, but it looked to be a single cylinder, horizontal shaft engine of 7 - 10 hp, I'd say.

It was a pale green (don't know if original), and the tag identified it as a briggs & stratton, and I think the type was "K7".

It is nearly 2' tall, and did not have a recoil starter- it had the "wrap the rope around the pully and yank your guts out" starter... The engine looked complete.

My question is, are these things collectable? I would love to fix this up and trade it for an old hit & miss of some sort. Should I bother with this engine? I think it will hit the scrap pile if I don't grab it.

I'll be going back soon, and I can get a picture.

Any free engine is collectable to me. Can't say as to value though. Check that board Franz told you about. Some real smart engine folks over there.

You might try asking on the small engine board of www.enginads.com, seems like everything is collectable to someone.
