I recently picked up a small gas engine which turned out to be an Ellis. It is a two stroke, headless with enclosed crank. It is very small compared to any stationary gas engine that i have ever seen. The flywheels are about 10 inches in diameter and i would say that it is about 3/4 to 1 horsepower. Does anyone else out there have one of these engines or heard of it any information would be helpful. THANKS.

I have a picture and specifications of this engine from the Ellis catalog. They call it "The 1 1/2 H.P. Ellis Engine". They say that it may be re-rated to 2 H.P.

If you still have this engine, and you would like a copy of this picture please let me know. And if you ever run across an "Ellis Nine",let me know that also.

I have an Ellis engine. 1-1/2hp. Would like to see your pictures. Looking forward restoring this one.

Found an 1912 ad that showed the buss box style.

Need information about the governor.

Looking in the bible of stationary engines Lewis M. Ellis org the Ellis Engine Company of Detroit about 1910. He was associated with the Gray Motor Co. Looks like company ceased around 1915. The little two cycle engine was designed to burn kerosene making it suitable for light plants, milking machines and other equip. Hope this helps!
