has anyone built or have plans or ideas to build a small , manual sheetmetal bender? I was considering building one approx 18" to 4' to bend up to 16 / 18 guage steel. I was thinking of using a grader blade cutting edge for the top clamp. Any ideas?

I don't know the exact issues but The Mother Earth News had one several years ago, the same issue with building a yard tractor from VW parts. Projects In Metal magazine also had a set of plans a few years back. You may also check some of the older books in the local library.Best of luck in your search.

Try 2 peices of angle iron in a vice, i have seen an improved version where 2 peices were fastened to a stand in such a way that they clamped the sheet, there was a third peice on side which was fastened with hinges to one of the 2 angle irons. This was fitted with a handle/lever to bend the sheet. it was about 3 ft wide.
