International model M ignitor troubles

I have an international "M" gas engine - 1926? It is equiped with the international ignitor. When I got the motor it had been sitting outside uncovered for almost ten years. The ignitor was seized up badly. I got it free, but I need to replace the return spring that brings the points together. Having it professionally rebuilt is out of the budget right now. I have no idea how to gently get the pin out of it that holds the whole assembly together. I fear that I will break something if I get overly aggressive with it. Do they make replacement shafts with the points on them? Is this somwthing that could be fabricated easily? If I could get a replacement it would be eazy enough to simply torch the piece off and be done with it. I was also thinking of buying some piano wire and trying to make a spring around it without taking it apart. Any help would be great. At this point the rest of the motor should be good to go and this is the only thing holding me back.

Try these guys...

I'm real partial to the Deering M's, but never had one. I do have a little toy one that runs on a battery or solar panel. Probably as close as I'll get to one for quite awhile...
