I recently aquired a 1918 6 horse power model z fm. I got it running but only by keeping the carb? if that is what it is call filled w/ gas by pouring it in by hand. There is a little lever on the front of the carb that looks like it rubs the push rod to pump fuel up from the tank. Kind of like an accelerater pump on an automobile carb. There is a little steel ball down in the carb below this pump arm. Is this where the fuel line hooks in under the ball? There is another threaded hole in the bottom of the carb next to this other one, is it a return line ? Also what goes between the ball and thepump arm, if that is what it is, Is there as spring? The only thing there is a little cap that fits in the top of that hole and the ball. Is it a fuel pump? There is also an adjust ment knob that goes into the water jacket on the head, what is this for? Thanks for the help, Jason

My dad just purchased an old FM model z. We're trying to locate the serial number. Any idea where it is located on the engine?

Thanks!
