I'm looking at a 3 cyl diesel Detroit powered trash pump. Engine is supposed to have blown a valve and thrown a chunk through the exhaust. Sounds fishy to me, could it even do that? I'm thinking I'll just pull the engine and either PTO power it or try to hook up a Mercedes engine I have. I will get the Detroit looked at but if it's too much is there a market for parts?

Hey Ross, I have saw a Detroit do alot of wierd things LOL I wouldn't put anything past them, however overall they are pretty good engines they will run a long time if you can put up with the noise and oil leaks, aftermarket parts are plentiful I heard new genuine parts are getting hard to find.
