I have a flathead Ford power unit with clutch pto, huge copper radiator, instrument panel, etc. It ran fine when I last used it twenty some years ago. Is this worth any decent ammount? The local Ford dealer put his sticker on it, and I think the phone no. was three maybe four digits.

Sherburne; It has been several years since I saw one for sale, but, if you have a complete engine, no cracks in head/block ect....worth at least $300.00, don't let any one tell you different.!! They are getting scarce, not rare, but hard to get..... ..... ..

Compared to hit and miss engines they are worth very little. A friend used a flathead as a pony motor for BIG Allis pump engine. I have a '36 Ford 5 window coupe with a hot Mercury flathead.

Is it 4 or 6 cylinders? Are there numbers on the head or plate riveted to engine?

I have no idea of the value but I would sure like to see a picture of it and see more info . I asked if any body had ever seen one on this board some time ago and only got 3 responses. I like the old flatheads and am always interested when they are mentioned.
thanks in advance..

It sounds like you have a K.R Wilson Ford power unit. They were assembled in Buffalo N.Y. in the late thirtys early fortys. Many were used to run pea viners here in Westen N.Y. They used the 90 HP Mercury Flat head. The company also made special service tools for the Ford shops.I have seen a row of ten of these engines all roaring at once, Threshing peas hour after hour. That was a few years ago
