I recently picked up a two cylinder Wisconsin, prestolite distributor, electric start, and need information on setting the timing. Are there markings on the flywheel, or is there a plug somewhere I need to pull out to see marks on the camshaft, etc.

Also, this engine has an electronic regulator on the side of the blower housing that took a pretty good hit by something, and I seriously doubt if it works anymore. Anyone got a source for these?

You did not specify the model engine you have, so assuming a fairly recent model TJD, here goes. There is a plug on the side of the timing gear case, right by the distributor. Take the plug out and align the mark on the gear to the mark on the housing. Number one cylinder is the one nearest the flywheel. There is also a mark on the flywheel housing that lines up with a mark on the flywheel. Lest you notice two lines on the flywheel housing, the lower mark is for 20 degrees advance and is checked with a timing light. There is 520 degrees lag in the firing order of #1 cylinder to #2. Kinda confusing. #1 plug wire is to the front of the distributor. A good shop manual for your specific engine will iron out any doubts or confusion for you and are readily available from WisCon Total Power, or whatever they call themselves now. Good luck and all the best..... .Greg
