THE VILLIERS MK2 IS A TWO STROKE STATIONARY ENGINE USED MOSTLY ON LAWNMOWERS

TO IDENTIFY/CONFIRM THE MODEL AND AGE
THE ENGINE AND SERIAL NUMBERS ARE STAMPED ACROSS THE JOINT BETWEEN THE TWO HALF'S OF THE ALUMININM CRANKCASE AND JUST BELOW THE CYLINDER JOINT. YOU SHOULD FIND 3 NUMBERS AND POSSIBLY A 'LETTER' ONTHE LEFT HALF AND 5-6 NUNBERS ON THE RIGHT HALF. IGNOR THE SECOND ROW WHICH WAS USED BY VILLIER ONLY.

EMAIL ME AND I WILL TRY AND FIND OUT THE AGE AND WHAT THE ENGINE WAS ORIGINALY FITTED TO.

Hi, I just got a Villiers engine and since I am completely new to these engines I have no idea what's what about them. What I know though is that it is completely made of aluminium with a cylindrical metal fuel tank and that beneath the oil filler cap, riveted to the mounting legs is an aluminium plate with SERIAL 728E 2783 stamped on it. Then embossed on the cylinder head between the cooling fins there is MkII. On the flywheel I found the following: 60079 1 10/63 and an arrow probably for timing the engine. The carb has Villiers England Type B10/1 embossed on it. The bore diameter is standard according to what is stamped on the piston and it measures 58mm.
Can you shed more light on this engine please and can you confirm if it is actually a MK2.

Can you possibly post pics here or else send directly to my address, as with pics in hand I could compare with mine. Or else can I send you the pics of my engine?

And finally can you tell me from where I can find/buy/download a manual for my engine?

Thanks and regards from Malta
Kaci

I have a Villiers Mark 2 on a Green's (of Leeds and London)Lawnmower - rescued for restoration.
Should it have an exhaust or is the exhaust port supposed to be open to air. There is no flange, just a smooth 1inch diameter, 1inch long port. Does it need to have a tuned exhaust 'jubilee-clipped' onto this port? Where can I get one? Thanks for your help.

I bought a Villiers stationary engine. I would like to know some things about it.
Its model number. Its age.
The four wires coming from the 'bell housing' are labelled, A1 etc. since there is no kickstarter (I am a motorcyclist - and own a Villiers powered Greeves Trials machine) two or more of the wires are for the starter, the rest ? It runs but not for a long time (according to the fellow I bought it from.
I can take off the cover but I'd rather not unless I have to.
Would it help if I were to send you a photograph of it?

I have many Villiers engines but I have never heard of MK2 engine.I think you may have a MK12 or possibly a MK20.The MK12 has a bore of 55mm.,the MK20 of 63mm.I have books on all the 'MK' engines and can email any data you need. Regards from down under.
