I need to know the original color of a McCormick Deering 1 1/2--2 1/2 hp. This engine was made in 1936. It's a model LA.

I also own a 1936 LA, I beleive the correct
color is ih red. Prior to 1936 I've been told
they were gray, but dont quote me on that.
I painted mine red, painted the belt pulley black.

The only color pictures are in a 1920 catalog. My 35 and 40 catalogs are all black and white. At that time all of the engines are shown in a kind of greenish color. The tractors are shown in a bluish color. Apparantly color printing wasn't very accurate at that time as I know the tractors were grey. I would think the greenish color shown is actually just a different shade of grey from the tractors, as I have never known anything else IHC to be painted green.

I just recently bought a 90% restored model M and it's been painted a green color. I was wondering what color it should be myself.
