I have a Wisconsin THD motor that is blowing gas out of the carburetor when you try to speed it up! And I can’t get it much above an idle. I have ground the valves, new spark plugs, and wiring and checked the timing; it seems to be ok according to the book. It has 70 pounds of compression on both cylinders. Any thoughts on what may be causing this problem??? Thanks, Gary

I have a 2 cyl Wisconsin engine there is NO name tag but it looks like a THD or TFD or TED or FFM from what i can see by the looks.

It is a hand crank so i am looking for flywheel with teeth to add an electric starter .
Any ideas?

Thanks paul

HI:

There are two possibilities that you may want to
double check.

1. Could be the intake valves are too tight, check the clearance. Should only be about .008 -
.010.

2. The cam shaft timing could be off or ignition timing could also be off ( usually too far advanced).

I hope one of these two suggestions will prove positive for you.

Ray

Carburetor inlet needle is not seating. Check needle and float. The float may be sticking, or there could be trash around the needle and seat.

If the gas is really blowing out of the carburetor, you could be leaking compression through the intake valve. Be sure that it is seating properly, and that the valve clearance is set properly.

Thanks Tom, I'll try the needle and seat and see what happens. Gary
