I have restored my JD type E. I put a new gas tank on it, and now I have rust in my tank where the gasoline has rusted the tank interior. Ofcourse the rust has gotten into the check valve and keeps it from holding gas. I am going to take the tank off in a few days and I wanted to ask the professionals in here about what I should do to correct this problem. I understand that there is a teflon spray product that is sold by Home Depot and Lowes paint departments that should take care of this problem. Is this correct? What is everyone else doing to keep the interior of there tanks from rusting. Thank you very much,
Tim Petty

Part # A-9002, $23.95/qt. at Snyder's Antique Auto Parts. Phone # 888-262-5712. I have used this sealer in fuel tanks of all types and not only will it seal the rust, it will plug a pretty good sized leak. You might also put some Ospho rust kill in the tank, slosh it around, drain out the excess and let dry for several days before using the sealer. You can get the Ospho at most hardware stores.

Good luck
