I have just about completed a JD pumpjack. I have
replaced all bearings, bushings, and seals. Should be good as new real soon.

Dennis

How hard was it to find the bearings, bushings, and seals, could you measure and match them. I had a JD dealer in Colorado fax me a parts breakdown on one but haven't got to mine to rebuild yet. It listed Timken bearings for it. I also have a friend that has a Dain pumpjack that is identical to a JD. Who made it for who??

It was not hard at all. The seals were just commercial stock. I took some measurements to my bearing place and they matched it up. The roller bearings are also just timkin normal stock numbers. BUT I will warn you that one of the races for the top worm gear where the shaft comes out was very difficult to remove. Spent about a whole day getting it out. Ended up carefully going through the grease hole and moving it up enough to get a hook and slide hammer on it to presuade it to move. From my understanding the Dain was the original creator and then Dain tractor works were bought by JD and therefore the name change. I have a very early Dain that is in very poor condition that i used for parts. There are some differences but very minor.
