I just picked up a Continental 6 cylinder with a Bosch magneto, mechenical overspeed, and many tempriture and oil safety devices. It's set on a Duplex gen set power unit. It has "Red Seal" cast into the side crank case covers. Anyone have any information, sources for this old motor? Thanks PK

I have a modle 227 continental engine. I just purchased $500.00 worth of parts. One of the parts was a new solid state ignition distributor.I cannot find the new ignition timming required with this solid state ignition. Could you send this informatio to me via email as soon as you can. Thank you John Creighton

Here is what little I know about them. The Continental Red Seal engine was one of the best 6s made from what I have heard. International used them in their pickups and Jeep used them too. You might check some books on those vehicles and you might pick up some information on them. I believe some tractors used Continentals but could not say which ones. I met a man who had an IH pickup with 700k miles on it with this engine. He said all that had ever gone wrong with it was a burnt valve at about 500k.

Massey-Harris used the 226 cubic in continental 6 in the model 44-6. KIts are available for it. Just click on engine kits in left column on this page and go to massey 44-6. Dan
