I finally got this engine in the shop this last weekend. It is free but I know that there are some parts that are missing. I look at the tag and this is the info it contains.

Mccormick deering engine
Internationl Harvester
1 1/2 horsepower
500 rpm
No.A W53679

Can someone tell me where I can buy a manual for this engine? This is the second engine that I have where the gas tank is a part of the heavy casting in the bottom part of the engine. I was also surprised that the tag did not contain any other identifications as to the engine, thought there should be a model number or something.

I also have the exact same engine you described. My serial number is W29097.
Did you get a manual for yours and if so where?
John

I think you'll find that the fuel tank is actually a separate tank, not part of the base casting. I got a reproduction manual for my model M from Hit & Miss Enterprises.

Go to www.enginads.com If you will check out the vendors page, you should find someone who has a manual. You can post questions on the Smokstak page.

Look's to me as thow it is a IHC Type M engine. Book says it's a 1 1/2 H.P. Gasoline engine (500 RPM) The only gas engine I see on the list. In the S/N the AW stand's for Wico magneto, The 53679 say it's of 1927 vintage. Don't know where to get a manual. That's about the best I can do.
