Hi Jim,

I have an old VE4. It is NOT the same as the VH4D. The VE4 has a 3" bore and 3-1/4" stroke, hence the 3x3-1/4 you noted. The displacement is therefore 91.9 cubic inches. The "D" designation is used to denote stellite exhaust valves, stellite seat inserts and positive valve rotators. You will not have those options if you lack the "D" in the model number, as you apparently do. The exhaust valve springs are also different in the VE4D than the VE4. Most other parts SHOULD be the same but don't count on it :o). The VE4 horsepower rating is 13.0 at 1400 rpm up to a maximum of 21.5 at 2400 rpm, depending on governor speed setting. I believe the VH4D is larger displacement and greater HP.

Hello Jim, What you are looking at is a VH4D Wisconsin Engine. There are lots of them still around. I have found that the factory is best for answering most technical questions. Their number is 800-922-5632. Ext #6 ask for Hike. He is great on helping. On the engine for manuals go on Ebay and enter Wisconsin Engine. There are lots of good older manuals. The older ones are much better then the new ones with a lot more detail. Also on Ebay there are lots of parts that come up. Hope this helps. Thanks Joe
