Hey guys I'm looking for a good block for an Onan Performer 18. The PN cast into the backbone of the block under the intake manifold is 170-4347, and the ser number is 3249257. I have a complete engine but the right liner has a major case of the pits from where the welder I bought was left outside with the intake uncovered. If no one has a block, have any of you had any luck trying to get one resleeved? Thanks in advance for any help. Wayne

Hi Wayne, A good engine reconditioner would have no problem sleeving a cylinder and its pretty cheap, at least it is over here in the UK.

motrack, Thanks for the info on the oversize pistons, that will be a big help with a 16Hp I have that's pitted also. As for the Performer 18, let me clarify a little....it's not so much a pit as it is a crater.... if I had to make an educated guess I'd say it was .050 or more deep and as big around as two match heads. Might know they had left one head on and took one off...the open cylinder is in excellent shape, the closed one is a total loss because of ONE crater sized pit right below where the top ring stops on the way up...
Thanks again for the info, but if anyone out there has a block, please let me know...THANKS

hmmm....it would be so tempting to tig-weld a bit of ni-rod in there, grind it smooth, hone, and see how she runs...
