I have a Cushman verticle engine that at first glance looks like a 4hp binder engine. The engine I have is marked 5hp on the tag. It has a cam operated overhead intake valve with a pushrod and rocker arm. All the binder engines seem to have atmopheric intake valves. My engine also has a Tillotson carburetor that is original. All info I can find on Cushman engines says that all Cushman verticles used a Schebler carb. My engine does not use a drip oiler for the cylinder. It uses splash oiling in the crankcase with an oil sump. It has a Wico A series magneto. I can't seem to find any info on this engine, or a picture of a Cushman binder engine with a rocker arm intake valve. My feeling is that this engine is an improved later model binder type engine and was probably one of the last ones made. Let me know what you think. Thanks
