Pump Jack installation

I have a old pump jack that I plan on hooking up to one of my engines for display at the county fair.Need some pointers on the connection coming out of bottom of pump to wash tub,plan on recirculating the water with the pump thanks

All you need is a simple check valve.
I use the cheap plastic type that comes with rubber adaptors and clamps, usually found near sump pump plumbing. They work great and are easy to remove & clean if (when) debree gets in the tank from passing observers.
