We obtained a restored Int Model M 1.5 HP engine and can not get it to start. It has a Wico mag and it has spark at the plug it seems to be getting fuel.It poped a couple of times but wont catch. We put the run start lever in the start position. Is there any other tricks to starting this motor. Any info would be appricated.

check your intake valve spring if it is new you may have to loosten up the spring, or your carb. might be plugged enough that it is not getting enough gas, the proper opening for the needle valve is 1/4 turn. Also, try to start it with an electric motor or something fairly quiet so you can hear the engine, and what it is doing. Sometimes just spinning them fast helps a lot!
