Hi all, I have pulled the old mower out after leaving it sit for approx 4 months. The problem is that it just wont start, it wants to, but after several revolutions of firing it stops and wont start again unless I leave it for a while.

I have checked the spark plug and spark, all ok, however the plug is very wet. I clean it and put it back in and try again after a while with the same results.

I notice that the Choke is closed and when I try moving it manually I hear a faint sucking sound, is this normal?

The last time that I tried starting it was without the air filter and it starting backfiring as it tried to start.

I have searched the net looking for a workshop manual but they are as scarce as....

Any help would be appreciated greatly, thanks in advance all.

Don P.

I have a B&S lawnmower engine that if you prime the bulb, will start but only run for a moment before it stalls. It seems to run out of gas in the carb. Anyone got any ideas?

thanks,

You have something plugging your main jet or pick-up tube. Remove carb and blow out should fix you up.

Take the flywheel off, and see if the key sheared. It sounds like it should be that simple.

Make sure that your valves have the correct clearance and that they are properly adjusted! HTH paul
