I've recently purchased my first stationary engine which works well but the seller had no operating or maintenance proceedures. I can get it running-- understand throttle, choke, carb adjust knob but need some help w/ maintenance... oil level/ safe water temp / is water ok or should antifreeze be used / any info on flat belt drive ice cream mixers? Mark

Oil level even with drain plug.
Water temp, anything but boiling.
Coolant, plain water, drain after use and let dry out.
Haven't seen the ice cream freezer, but would like to have one!

I'd run just water in it. Antifreeze makes a mess out of things and can mess us your paint job. Too Dam* sticky. Water will work fine, and I don't think boiling is a bad thing. Some of the old engines just seem to run better when warmed way up. Good for boiling eggs in for lunch (grin).

I saw your ice-cream mixers out here somewhere, seems like they were dutch? made, and showed 'em running with a John Deere engine. Try a google search, if no hits, holler back and I'll see if I can find it again. They were pricey though, $1,400 bucks if I remember right...
