Just acquired a Petter A1 engine. Serial no is 576758. How would I find out age and where do I get spare parts in UK? I have a couple of tractors but don't know much about stationary engine restoration. I did find one sit with serial nos but there is a gap where mine would fit. Its 3hp petrol rated at 1500rpm.

Thanks for that link. I had seen the site before but had forgotten about it. I was just looking for a points setting tonight and have got it now. My engine is very similar to yours but fuel tank is different and it has no glass sediment bowl. Also magneto looks different. All mine needs mechanically is new rings. I broke one about 20 years ago. Tinwork cover around flywheel is rusted out at bottom and although I can repair it easily if I can get it off I think getting the flatbelt pulley and flywheel off might be a problem. Apart from heat and a good puller, any tricks for doing it?
