Just picked up a litte IH powerunit with a four cylinder Continental engine. Has a flat-belt pulley output. Engine is thermo-siphon, i.e. there is no water-pump. Anbody know the size and horsepower of the engine? Looks about the same size as the Hercules in my Cletrac HG. The engine tag reads: Continental Motors Corp TY69 96404 Casting on engine block on carb. side is 69A-405 Carburetor is a Carter 852S.

Yes, it is a Continental Y69. We had a combine back in the 50's with this engine. I overhauled it as a part of my High School Ag class. I still have some parts of the engine as we junked the combine. It was always hard starting. The valves were in the block and there were no valve seat inserts, just the cast iron block. Lack of use and rusting deteriorated the exhaust valve seating area until it was not practical to fix without having a machine shop bore and install valve seats.
This same or near same engine was used on lots of fork lift trucks too, not under the IH name, but the Continental name.
Somewhere, up in Indiana, I still have a manual for the engine.
