Several years ago whle driving the Alaska Highway I stopped for gas at a remote location and asked the man the source of his electricity. He showed me a single cylinder engine with exposed con rod and crank turning a flywheel of perhaps 1.5 to 2 feet in diameter, which turned a generator via a flat belt. I think the name on it was "Gray", or "White", and it seems it was a DC generator but I'm not sure.

Anyone hereabouts familiar with such a setup? Maybe know who made them, or where, and in what era? This unit was far from new in 1970.
