To the Extraordinary League of Engine Men, I have a Hit and Miss engine (1/34hp little jumbo) that I did get running-it has a spark plug wired to a wooden coil but I also have in addition to this an ignitor that I believe would or did go with this engine but since it was my deceased Father's and is now mine I do not know anything about how to hook it up using the ignitor instead of the spark plug way of running it. I would like to try the ignitor version of running my engine simply because I have the ignitor but I am a novice at htis and need any and all of your feed back on this. Diagrams or pictures would really help alot because I have searched the sites for information on my engine and pictures of it but I really don't see anything resembling it. Thanks,Gary in Staples,Mn.

Gary, I have a 1 3/4hp Little jumbo and I'm in central MN. Do you have any pictures of the ignitor or your entire engine? I believe there are different ignitors used on this engine. My ignitor is mounted on a slant with a Webster magneto. Without the mag you can wire the ignitor in series using a battery, and a automobile coil. Use the two small connections on the coil -not the center high tension post. E-mail me if you have questions. nika1@ecenet.com

Check this link out. This person happens to have a Nelson Bros. engine with an ignitor. Just follow the link on the page.

Have you tried Harry's Old engine page, Gary? Those guys over there can get a bowling ball running good with an ignitor...
