I'm trying to remove the cover behind the fly wheel. I would like to know if there is something I have to take off. I have the fly wheel off. I have the cover move about 1/8th inch. That is far that it can move.

The side covers have a couple of alignment pins that insures the side cover goes on straight. Make sure that the flywheel shaft isn't mushroomed and then slowly work the cover plate up. A couple of pry bars and slowly work it up. Don't force it and be careful not to chip the block or plate. Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem and ended up breaking the plate. The crankshaft was rusted and corroded between the oilseal and the crankshaft bearing. Pry out the oilseal, and see if you can clean the shaft. This will be less trouble than welding the plate. BOB
