I've got an older 2-cylinder Wisconsin that is what is considered a 360-degree motor, meaning that the pistons move in unison, but the cycles are 360 degrees apart, meaning that when one cylinder is on the compressions stroke the other is on the exhaust stroke, and so on, so that the combustion cycles are 360 degrees of crankshaft rotation apart, and evenly spaced. I understand that they also made a 180 degree motor, where the pistons moved in opposite directions. Can anybody tell me which is the older engine, the 180 or 360 degree version, and if one is inherently better than the other? I suspect that the 180 degree engine is more vibration free due to the reciprocating masses kind of cancelling each other out, even though the combustion cycles are not occurring at equal intervals (ie cylinder 1 fires, then 180 degrees of crankshaft rotation later #2 fires, then #1 doesn't fire again for 540 degrees of crankshaft rotation. This is the same firing sequence as a 2-cylinder John Deere.)

The TE, TF, & THD had the pistons in unison. Then cam the TJD, with the pistons 180 degrees apart. Then the THD came back & replaced the TJD due to EPA stuff.
