I have a mid-80's KT19 (with the square air filter housing) on a Bolens 1900. When the idle is turned up it blows oil out of a rubber tube that sticks up from the engine block. It reminds me of a tube that would have a PVC valve on top of it, like I had on an old Mustang. Anyone have any ideas??? My next step is to take it for a tune up, but I'd like to have an idea of what I'm getting into. I can email a picture if it would clarify what I talking about. thanks!

I have a Bolens 1900 with a Kohler KT19QS. I started it up and it started smoking. Shut it down and found the air cleaner housing filled with oil. Took everthing apart and started it up again and after about a minute oil starts shooting out what I believe it is "oil breather hose". How do you fix this? What"s causing it? Any help would be appreciatd.
Thanks.

The breather tube has no valve in it but the breather unit it comes out of does. The original flapper was a rubber disc which is known to shrivel from the manifold heat or come out of place. New breathers are made with a metal reed instead. Also check the crankshaft seal. Often the seal will come loose, sometimes due to a faulty breather and sometimes just on it's own. Bill Klein
