I have a 3hp engine with the serial number BW36629 (not too sure about the "BW").
Am seeking information on the engine and particularly the carburettor for restoration purposes. The engine runs but slows down after 1/2 a minute and it's not long enough to play with the settings. There are three controls on the carburettor all of which can be adjusted by control knobs but i'm not sure where they should be set. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

That engine is designed to start on gas and when hot switched to kerosene. There is a needle valve for both. The third valve is for injecting water into the carb to prevent kerosene detonation(engine knock). I don't know much more about these but you will find better help at www.enginads.com. Click on Smokstack- Its a forum where you can ask questions. This site is entirely dedicated to antique flywheel engines and has a lot of experianced people that can give you some help.
