HI Gary,

You have a B700 series motor, 2.5 hp, produced from the late 40s. The block is likely to have a casting date on the PTO side, in a raised rectangle measuring about 0.5" by 1.5". It has a 2" bore and shares the same camshaft and valves with many of the later engines using a similar block. Clinton production moved from Clinton, Michigan to Maquoketa, Iowa in 1948.

Paul (Maquoketa, Iowa native)

This must be a walk behind tractor? The B700 series Clinton is pretty small. 2hp at 3600rpm. Yours has a gear reduction on it. Early to mid 50's is the best guess I can make. There isn't any production record for Clinton like Briggs & Statton has.
