I want to put together a 10-15 kw generator with a low rpm diesel;preferably Indian, not chinese. Could someone give me input on this and recomend a source of Lister type engines? There are hundreds of Indian mfg's;which one is best? This unit will be used on a regular basis, plus be hurricane insurance.

I think i'd go with an air cooled Deutz, or SAME tractor with a PTO generator.

It would be the best bang for the buck in that size, and would be almost a turn key unit.

That's what i did, and i'm very happy with my purchase!

Try utterpower.com. I have heard many good things about him. I have a Lister clone 12/2 and am very happy with it. One thing is to stay away from roller bearings on the crank of a 2 cylinder. On the 2 cylinder they have a center main bearing. If you go for roller bearings this center bearing is deleted. This can lead to broken crankshafts.
