On a Wisconsin vg4d I just replaces the only plug cables that were high resistance carbon with copper cables. The guy at the parts store said the copper would be give a stonger spark. Is this true? Why would the factory cables be high resistance if copper is better? I know my car is supposed to have high resistance cables?

Resistance wires are for radio noise suppression, and can cause weak spark at the plugs when used with magnetos or 6 Volt systems.

If your engine is 12 Volts, with good points and coil, it should work fine with either type of wires.
