The ends of the shaft have a 1/4 to 3/8 wobble on the side, it is 1 1/2 hp from 1924, seems like someone dropped it on the end of one of the shafts?

Can it be fixed? How?
Thanks...

I have a 4 HP Bulldog engine and the crank was bent about 1/4 inch. I took it to a NAPA machine shop and they strightened it in a press made for car engine cranks. Cost about $65. Another more costly method is to have the crank metal sprayed and ground if it cant be straightened in a press.

MY 2hp Rock Island had nearly 3 inches of wobble to it. Much like you said about it looked like someone had dropped it. I took a porta-power and used the "spread sissor" attachment with small blocks of wood on either side of the sissor and placed it between the flywheel and the base of the engine. SLOWLY I started to apply pressure. after about 1 hour of prying, releasing, turning the engine over and prying again. I had the crank within .020 thou. IF you do it this way BE CAREFULL! Cast iron is some brittle stuff, and you run a good chance of breaking the flywheel or crank, OR BOTH.
