I am fairly new to this, and I am enjoying restoring these engines very much. I fully understand Magnitos,as well as points and coil type ignitions, however, what is an ignitor, and how does it work? Any good web pages teaching about this?
Thanks!

I am trying to get some light to work that have ignitors and starters. The old ones I removed onlt had the capacitor. I do not know how they work. I have four different models of lights. I managed to get one working but I am still troubleshooting the wiring. Ant advise from anyone.

egnitors are just a set of points, that normally are open then pushed closed and open again ,but very fast. The spark happens when the pionts open . They are wrorked by a rod or some kind of a trip that is timed to the engine. Not much to them . Work off of a low tension coil or a low voltage mag.
