Looking for info and manuals for a type AA1 3.5 horse petter engine. A friend just got one. It'll fire on ether But the on off control is jammed up somewhere inside the engine and we are not sure how to proceed. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,
Jonathan

Jonathan,

Were you able to find your manual for the 3.5 HP Petter Engine? I found your inquiry on the Yesterday"s tractor site.

I have one too and I cannot wait to get it running, but I do not have any literature either. From what I can tell, they were manufactured from about 1964 to 1984 or so.

I would be curious to know if yours is running and how you like it.

Dale

I have a petter type diesel, single cylinder. Yours is probably a twin right? When you say the on/off control is jammed I'm wondering what your talking about. Mine has no on/off control. What it does have is a compression release to make starting easier. It keeps the intake valve open I think, could be the exhaust. Anyway that makes no compression so you can spin it up with the crank and then close the valve. Now she starts every time. To shut down you do NOT use the compression release. You hold the throttle closed and she slows to a stop. That's the way mine works anyway. If your compression release is jammed open I could see it not starting. Mine is right on top near the valve cover. Hope this helps.
