I have just acquired a homemade logsplitter that uses a 6.5hp Wisconsin engine to drive a small Dowty hydraulic pump.(#'s UP 3025 CPDFB, 4-1-73-14) I have exhausted all the search engines I know of but cannot find anything resembling this pump.I would like to know some of the specs on it.(GPM & PSI etc.)If anyone has any info on it or can suggest where I can look , the help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

How old is this Dowtry pump? When Dowty came over here they became Tyrone which was purchased by Dana which was sold to Parker. I can send you a formula where you can measure the gears inside the pump and setermine the flow. No doubt is is of the pocket pump type of construction popular in Europe. What is the relief valve set at on thesplitter. Remember rule of thumb: It takes one horsepower for ewach one gallon of flow at 1500 PSI.

Hi! I contacted Parker as per Bob"s advice and I am waiting for them to get back to me.This is a homemade logsplitter & it doesn"t have a relief valve on it.I don"t know the age of the pump either as I just bought the splitter about a week ago.I was hoping the #"s on the pump would tell us the age & other specs.I don"t know if trying to post a picture would help any?Hopefully Parker can solve some of the questions!
Don

What kind of valve controls the splitter? Most of the monoblock cast valves either have a relief valve or a provision for one. Also if Parker does not answer that take the gears out and measure the pump. I would like to see a picture of the valve and the pump.

HI! Still no answer from Parker.I must tell you that I know little to nothing about hydraulics so if at times it seems like your talking to a brick you'll know why!But that's why I read all these forums everyday, I figure I should learn something eventually.I'll untarp the splitter & take a few photos & hopefully remember how to post them.I'll get back soon as possible. Thanks!
