Ok here's the question I have a friend who has installed a 30k gen at his home .When he bought the gen it was on lp and ran great when he hook it up at his home he converted it to natural gas? The problem is it will not start from natural gas but if you just either it.It will start and run fine all day but if you shut it down it won't start unless you use either. The engine is a Ford 300 six cylinder.I have been told that natural gas is lighter than air and this is the problem. So is there any one that could help me with this problem.

LP vapor and natural gas vapor are regulated and fed into fuel mixers(carbs) or burners at two significantly different pressures. That generator maybe running lean on natural gas.

It sounds like that the gas valve that opens up by the engine vacuum is not opening on the amount of vacuum that the starter generates. When the engine starts from the ether it develops more vacuum and opens the valve. Maybe a vacuum leak or mis-adjusted valve.
