Need to put new flywheel ring on. This has Continental 4 cylinder motor. I was told to be careful spliting generator from motor. Something
is different in coupling them together. Do I replace ring or whole flywheel. I have replaced flywheel rings before on tractors so I have some
experience on that. Where can I get these parts. Any info
from someone who has done this would be very helpful. Thanks to all in advance.

When seperating the engine from the generator you have to pull the engine and armature forward about 4 to 6 inches. The 120 volt armature in the rear has to be removed. The shaft is then free to move forward. The large bearing between the 120volt generator and the welding generator will slide out of its bore,You can use a piece of brass and a large hammer to coax it forward. There is 8 bolts that fix the flex plate on the armature to the flywheel. They can now be easily removed. This frees the engine from the armature.
