Hi, I need help in trying to date an engine. It is coupled to a lincoln welder, and looks like it came out of the stone age. Runs good welds okay for its age. I can't see any kind of tag, or plate on it, but only a few numbers on the block. Where do i look for serial, or model numbers? Then a place to match them up for a year. thanks old_oil

I feel like a dork,
I found a tag up behind the mag that reads 121j the J could possibly be a D, it is pretty rusty.
The type on the mag reads FMJ. The welder it is coupled to looks to be of the same era, and I have the serial, and type numbers for it if there is a website to ID it. Thanks everyone

That number you posted look like a John Deere casting number. Could you post a picture?

Is your engine a 2 cyl. vertical? If so it may be a THD Wisconsin.
