I aquired a International #15 hay press that has an LB engine on it. I know some of the history of the machine and know the engine was not original, but added in recent years.

The serial number is LBB41361. Can anyone tell me what year it was built?

The engine is in working order and runs fine, but theres some things I'd like to correct on it. It is missing the sheetmetal valve cover and both rocker arms have been broken and brazed back together. The rocker stand shows lots of wear and the drip pan has broken loose from the stand as well. Does anyone know a good source for these parts, and are we talking about much expense to replace them?

Hello, your intl. lb. engine is a 3-5 hp. as you probably know. it was built in 1945 and was the 1,260th one built that year...total production for 1945 was 8,665 units built. i do normally have alot of parts for these but right now i'am kinda low....specially on those 3-5 's... there are alot of them around and the parts will not cost you that much. the valve cover though will set you back about 65.00...reason why is when they oiled them they set the valve cover aside and never put it back on. maybe still in the barn...most likely someone took it because they new the value. yours however was self oiling. i get around alot so keep my email if you like and can keep looking for you.

Thank you for the info.

I had no idea what year it might be since it actually looked older than the '44 LBBR on another #15 press I have.

I worry about the brazed rocker arms even though they seem to be a very old repair thats still working well. I'll definitely want to replace the valve cover. I kept your number and will check back with you.
